Best Restaurants in Ocean City, NJ
Eating out in Ocean City has its own rhythm. The city was founded in 1879 as a Christian retreat and has never allowed the sale of alcohol, so meals here lean toward family dinners, breakfast spots and boardwalk treats. Downtown, Asbury Avenue between 6th and 14th Streets puts cafés and sit-down restaurants within a short walk of each other, roughly midway between the beach and the bay.
In spring and fall, the city's mile-long block parties bring hundreds of crafters and food vendors to the same stretch. Out by the ocean, the boardwalk runs about 2.5 miles, with places to eat between the amusements, shops and the Music Pier. In summer, an evening Jitney carries riders to the boardwalk, which helps when parking is tight.
